Introducing Eco Pods - authentic biodegradable & compostable coffee pods that don’t hurt the planet.
As self confessed coffee addicts, we became aware and frankly alarmed at the amount of waste caused by capsules. We believe loving coffee shouldn’t mean harming our planet. Our mission is to source the best tasting blends, while finding the world’s most sustainable packaging solutions that consider the complete lifecycle impact of a product from raw material sourcing, right through to end-of-life disposal.
Eco Pods are made from the highest-quality beans hand-picked across regions of India, Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia. Hot air-roasted and packed into compostable, bio-degradable pods, Eco Pods are the closest thing you will get to a barista made coffee, all without harming the environment. We use plant-based sugarcane and sugar beet to create a coffee pod that composts in just 180 days.
It is estimated that more than 56 billion coffee capsules will go into landfill this year and take up to 500 years to degrade.
Traditional coffee pods use aluminum seals to keep the coffee fresh, but this also means that they spend hundreds of years in landfill. Aluminum not only leaves a nasty toxic trail after disposal, but is also non-renewable, and outlays scores of energy and chemicals to produce. Our pods are made entirely from sugarcane and sugar beet (sweet, right?). This means that the complete capsule, including the seal, is made from plant based materials.
